Profile
Opened a few months after the Westminister Mall Cinema, the A & B Twin offered a slightly higher quality movie going experience than it’s sub par sister facility. The theatre was built outside the mall, as a free standing structure, and featured the same bare bones facilities United Artists had become known for by the 1970’s. However, the A & B Twin had larger auditoriums, six channel stereo sound, and 70mm capability (in the large auditorium), which allowed the venue to stand out among standard mall cinemas of the day. The A & B Twin was taken over by Edwards in the mid 80’s and survived slightly longer than it’s sister theatre.
By the mid 90’s, the complex had become dated in the era of the mega plex and the venue was closed in 1998. A few years after closing the building was demolished and a large children’s’ retail store was built on the site.
